I recently left the corporate world and decided to work on my own.
I have been offered a consulting engagement in London for 4 months.
Question - I am currently a resident of California (live in San Francisco) and it seems evident that I need to establish a sole proprietorship (as opposed to Partnership or Corporation) as I will not have employees.
Question - since I would like to take advantage of tax benefits - would you recommend me to establish a sole proprietorship in California?
Can I explore establishing it in another state - eg Florida - where I used to reside fot tax purposes?
Finally, any other interesting tax/business implication/benefit with
providing consulting in the UK? An option I have is to work with an
umbrella company in the UK that charges me 200 pounds per month to
provide the services to my client - of course, I think I will lose the
tax benefits right?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated - I just received the offer from the UK and I have to move quickly and estbalish the company as I need to leave by the first week of Jan - I am not sure how quickly this process/
