I am writing a new business plan for an e-commerce business.  Of course banks will want to know sales projections.  I can easily figure out what it will cost to run an on-line business but how do I project sales for the internet?  Anyone have an idea how long, on average, takes to break even or become profitable?  I do not have an auction business like e-bay or amazon.  Thanks

Most of the time the projected figures you find on this type of business plan is just pulled out of the air. I have had good luck going to my local library they have given me resources that have helped. I would also suggest you read the book The Art of the Start by Guy Kawasaki. I have no experience with e-commerce business but the normal business usually takes 2 to 3 years to become profitable. If I can help in any other way message me.

Completely depends on what you do. You could be profitable on day one.

So, what is that you (will) do? Digital goods, physical products, a service, subscription-based? What kind of business is it? Telling us more might help us help you.
