Craig,
"WordPress. It`s not just for blogging anymore." :)
Seriously, a little over a year ago I spent months writing and re-writing the HTML for a web site, because I didn`t like any of the templates that I could find. And when I finished it, I didn`t really like it. Then a few days later I heard a podcast that mentioned WordPress. That night, within an hour, I had a web site setup and it was far better than the one I had slaved over. It`s very easy to use WordPress to create a general purpose web site.
So, yes, a blog is primarily about content. But for a web site, looks matter a lot. Once more people realize that WordPress is a great way to create a web site, I think the WordPress theme "market" will be even more important.
That said, since WordPress is free and open source, the way most people seem to play in that arena is to submit their themes to WordPress for free, and add their name and link on the bottom of the pages. That can be removed by someone familiar with HTML, but I`ll bet that most people don`t remove it, which is like free advertising for you.
