Hi Everyone,
My products are already housed in a sturdy box which we shrink wrap to keep clean, unopened, etc.  I`m designing a flier to put on the back, inside the shrink wrap and I`m having design issues.  I feel like I need big photos that clearly show what is in the box and a photo of how it is used but I also want sufficient text.  We are having space issues and I`m wondering if I cut back on my text or my expectations of the photos.  I don`t know if this helps but we sell rock and mineral kits for elementary age kids.

What will help sell my product more, text or photos?

Thanks!
Tracy

Hi Tracy,

I don`t have any experience in product packaging, but if you`re marketing these for elementary children, I think you`d be better off to go heavier on the visuals (after all, wouldn`t the kids rather look at what they`re getting than read about it?). However, I would also include some really concise copy (short and to the point) for the adults looking at the products. Just my two cents.

By the way, I think your product is a great idea! I visited your web site, and I`m sure I would have loved the kits when I was a kid!

Best of luck,
Erika

If your volume supports it, you might want to consider having a carton created with a a printed litho label pre-applied to it. A second option would be to get a non-corrugated carton printed and converted. Doing either one of these options makes your product carton the visual marketing tool for the product inside.

I visited your site and wonder why you need a flyer at all? The products are great, easy to understand just from the pictures (or "pit`chers," if I were younger), and minor explanations. So...how come the flyer?

Thank you all for your replies.  I would love to have a box packaging but we don`t have the volume to support such a cost at this time.  The reason we want the flyer is that we are planning to sell through both the website and retail stores an if the box is on the shelf, you can`t see inside well enough to know what it is each kit.  The flyer give some photos and text to provide that information.

Thanks!
