Networking towards collaborative new venture creation: Working together on Startups! Really and truly?

I am always looking for precisely that sort of opportunity to recruit/join and sollict/offer. How, then, shall we all proceed? Is this now our agenda? Is there any established protocol in this community? Or are we just playing by ear?

My own website, http://www.FoolQuest.com , is, so far as I am aware, unique, in that I strive to address the issues and vastly underserved needs of the fist concept "kitchen table stage" or phase of new venture creation. And just as an example, one of my standing suggested guidelines is to seek any sort of commitment from participants simply to answer posts and emails on a daily basis and not to simply let the conversation pitter out. -Or else, if they are going to quit, then to announce so explicitly, that other will all know where we stand.

Just to get the ball rolling...

Hi Aaron :-) Welcome to the forums.

Generally speaking, this site tends to be a place where people starting a business or thinking about starting one can ask questions, get ideas, brainstorm, and so forth. It`s not so much a networking site, although that`s naturally a part of things. We had a thought about perhaps developing a collaborative venture, but entrepreneurs tend to be independent so it didn`t really come together.

Surly despite every clear advantage in finally rising to the challenge and doing any better, the difficulty remains ubiquitous! Can you guide me in conducting an informal survey towards some more cogent failure analysis? Obviously, that would be well worth your time.

I have a serious question - do you talk like that in real life, Aaron? You must be a kick at dinner parties! ;)

You`ll never know, unless you invite me.

Aaron,
You can create a Poll from the Forums page, under one of the topical categories and survey the community that way.

If you think that some simple automated multiple choice will really have any value or make any difference, then that, right then and there, may be part of the problem. In other words, my first question is: How much do you even care? (And even that would be more in the manner of an essay question.) And the follow up question might be: By comparison, how involved do you think people would need to be, in order even to begin making any headway at all in discussions? Realistically, what must be the minimum commitments and expectations, even to make even such a passable beginning? Go to http://www.FoolQuest.com to get my opinion. What`s yours?

Also, again, explain, to the best of your understanding, past failure.

Yes, that`s why Startup Nation isn`t really designed to be a collaborative social-networking system.
