I am currently in the startup phase of an online software venture.

At this point, the feedback is positive and I have interested (but far, far from comitted ) investors.  I am being asked to submit a pro forma statement to give them an idea of how much and where I feel the funds need to be spent.  Is there a standard pro forma template available for start-ups?

Any help is much needed and greatly appreciated . Thank you.

Check SBA.gov or Entrepreneur.com, they should have pro forma templates.

Congratulations! It looks like you are well underway building a successful business. Getting the attention of potential investors is certainly a major milestone, but now you will need to produce the required documentation to live up to their expectations and show them that investing in your business is worth your while.

In the event you are working with Microsoft Office, there is a free Excel template available that you can download online:

Also, if you are interested in further information on how to develop a successful business plan, please feel free to download our free business-planning guide at

I hope this helps.

I clicked on the link you posted, but it appears to be a dead link.  Any other suggestions?

I`m not sure why the link went dead. When I googled it, it came up again. So, let`s try again and good luck.

LisaPR, thanks for the suggestion.  I have been Google-ing for Pro Formas for quite sometime and forgot to look to SBA or entrepreneur.  Taber, the balance sheet and income statement templates are on SBA.gov, but not easy to find.

Go here:

Dear StartUpSmart,

Could you possibly send some of those templates to me at dare2risk21@aol.com? I would greatly appreciate it if you could. Thank you.

Sincerely,
