I have a friend who went to  a purse party and bought a prada knock off for 20.00....I was told that the lady selling these purses has a license from prada to sell knock offs....can someone tell me if this could possibly be true...I have searched everywhere on the net to see if I can find info and I found nothing...I tried to get info to email the company to find out if they were a part of this but can`t find anything....I believe that this woman has been mislead by the people she is buying from and would like to see what others have to say. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas.

and they wonder why I drink.... ;-)

Think about it: If it is licensed, it wouldn`t be a knock off.

Also think about it... Would a business in high standing, license a knock off? Doesn`t it cut directly into the companies sales and brand? I think I`ll take a drink with ElidS.

If it`s a knock off, this yes it`s illegal and yes she can go to jail or pay huge fines. But, she may be licensed to sell defective items at low cost. I kinda doubt it, but it could happen.

Maybe she meant the purses fell off a truck, and the DRIVER was licensed?

I`m wondering if there is a confusion of some sort here, could it be that they are not claiming to have a "license from prada to sell knock offs" but that they are selling replica designer handbags as explained on that page and selling handbags such as these that have the same design as the Prada purses but not the Prada label?

If that were the case it could be perfectly legit, a preliminary search on the USPTO for Prada`s design patents using the terms "Prada AND design`  turns up no returns. I would imagine that Prada has not applied for any design patents and that would make all Prada replica designer handbags legit, if they are simply copying the design and not using the Prada label.
