OK, so my setting say I do not want email notifications of every posting at SuN to be sent to my home email addy, but there`s something in there that says if I post it can be changed.  What is it I`m doing when I post to make all those notifications come to me?  I usually hit the "view last post".  If I hit the notifications link below view last post, I get "Are you sure you want emails" and I always click off.

300 notifications in my regular emailbox in less than 24 hours is just too much.

How do I fix it?  Help please!

Near the top of each page of posts, there`s a link that either says "Disable notifications of this topic" or "Notify me of new replies." When you post in a topic, it automatically sets it to notify you of new replies. Go to the threads you are getting notificiations from and find the "Disable notificiations of this topic" and click it. That should give you what you`re looking for.

Hope this helps!

You might also want to check this page:

http://www.startupnation.com/pages/community/forums.asp

If you`re logged in, under each forum category on the right side there will be an indicator of whether or not you`re set to receive alerts for all posts in that topic - this is so you can receive notifications even if you`re not actively involved in each topic.  If you have that enabled, you`re going to receive all new posts in that topic (unless you individually deselect notifications for certain topics.  You may have those selected, I`m not sure, but I wanted to let you know that this might be the issue you`re facing.

I subscribe to receive notifications for every single comment that is posted because ... I`m the chief community officer.

But here`s what I do so that they`re not in my face every few seconds:

I set up a rule in Outlook so that every email with the Subject of

StartupNation :

is dropped into a subfolder in my inbox that I named Forum Posts.

That way, I can quickly glance at all the post notifications whenever I`m into that particular activity mode, but they don`t interrupt the flow of the other emails coming into my inbox.

You can also click on `Subject` at the top of that folder & it will sort each message into sections for each specific forum. It`s pretty slick.

We will create more options to manage the messaging that you elect to receive from SuN. As a matter of fact we`re meeting to strategize about that later this afternoon! But in the meantime, try out my method.

Anyone else do something similar or have another cool way to manage these?

We released a new "Forum Notifications" management console where you can manage all the notifications that you have setup.  To access this new feature, click on "My settings" in the upper-left profile box.

Once on the Settings main page, click the link "Update forum email notifications subscriptions".  (for those of you logged in right now..the above link should work as well)
