I have a patent pending on a new product that decorates orthopedic casts, wheelchairs, walkers, hospital bed rails and more. I have just started selling on line, 7/1/09.
The first customer I had is interested in retailing it on his website. Which I feel would be a good fit, but I am unsure about the different levels in pricing a product.
Here is what I think I could do... but please let me know if I am missing something.
My product (a kit of 2 skins) sells for $19.99 ea
I could sell to retailers (Online) for a 40% discount at $12.00 ea
I could sell to retailer stores (Mom & Pop pharmacies) for a 50% discount at $10.00 ea
I could sell to wholesalers (Medical supply catalogs) for a 60% discount $8.00 ea.
I could sell to Large companies (Walgreens, Walmart) with BIG orders for a 70% discount $6.00 ea (At this level I would have just short a $3 profit...roughly)
First, does this sound right? I also dont know what minimums to set for these prices. It`s important to me that the small businesses be able to get started retailing.
Please tell me what you think. Thanks!
