The site is still under construction, however we to launch within a few days.
What needs to be changed? What should we add? What advertisements should we use?
Looking forward for your comments!
I think my main comment would be that people who have trouble writing
an essay, likely also have trouble reading a whole lot about how to
write anything. :-)
Maybe you could develop a layout more geared toward an eighth-grade
mentality? Think about it: The statistics tell us that the average
reading comprehension level is about 8th grade. That would mean the
writing capabilities are along the same lines.
Then consider the miserable state of American education.
Now look at your site from those eyes. Put yourself into the shoes of
today`s sophomore in high school. They`ve been assigned an essay of 500
words, double-spaced. To me, that`s like sneezing. To them, it`s an
overwhelming project.
They go to your site, and what`s the first thing they see? Thousands and thousands of words! :-D
Here`s an idea you might consider: "Need help writing an essay? Click here to begin!" (Big graphic #1 of some sort.)
The next page asks 1 question: What`s the topic of your essay? They fill in a blank.
Next page: What would make a good title for the essay?
At that point, you could have no more than 5 bullet points about how to formulate a title.
Next page: Type in a general idea for your essay.
Here would be no more than 2 paragraphs about how to formulate a summary.
And so forth. When they reach the last page, they`ve pretty much
written their essay online. You`d present them with a word count, and
an error message if they`re way over or under the assigned count.
You could even charge a fee to print out the essay according to some sort of parameters (double-spaced, single, and so on).
