I have a product to fabricate but need help identifying the type of plastic molding technology, and a company to make it.  What I need is a Styrofoam molded structure that has about 1/2" thick Styrofoam wall thickness with a hard plastic shell on one side.  This molded product will be about the size of a breadbox.  The hard plastic shell would ideally have a decorative finish, maybe a granite looking finish with a slight texture.  Ideally I would like the company to be in So. California, but due to the unfriendly business climate in this state I'm pretty sure I won't find one nearby, so actually anywhere in the US is acceptable, the closer the better.  Can any of you help?  I appreciate the guidance.

You may be looking for injection molding but without knowing your design needs it's hard to tell.

Try searching for a manufacturer here.

Are the materials you are looking for similar to a bicycle helmet?  If they are, you are looking at molding the Styrofoam and then vacuum forming the hard shell part.

Since we have no idea about the draft needed, its impossible to say for sure. I would learn about rotational molding and blow molding.

As for So. California.... you need to find someone who specializes in an odd molding process. (high education). You need  a work force  that is willing to do secondary operations (hand work), and you need someone willing to do a small run. I can't think of anywhere better than So. California!
