I really want to open a pet shop in my area. My biggest competeors are walmart and  15 miles away a petsmart.  this area is all about pets and their care it would be perfect. I have one problem I dont know where to start? anyone have any ideas or can help I would be greatful!

When I'm new to something, I always find that reading a book on the subject is helpful in giving me a broad overview and a plan. Escape from Cubicle Nation by Pamela Slim gives some great advice on how to get started, but there are a ton of other books for those who want to start businesses. Go to the bookstore or library and browse the business section to see what jumps out at you.

Another thing that might help you get going is to start to put together a business plan to help organize your thinking and your research.
