I started using a peo for my business. This is how it works in short. I fire my employees, they hire them and lease them back to me and reduce my costs and paperwork. Seriously, this is just how direct the company rep explained it to me...

The Peo handles employee health benefits, 401k programs, workers compensation, life and disability, unemployment, payroll and all the local state and federal bull.

I write one check per payroll and everything is handled for me and my employees. This relationship seems to save my business money while reducing our hr costs..

In short, is this a good idea for my business and employees? This is the site of the company I use www.planmarc.com but there are several sources on the web. Any pros or cons woould be helpfull but so far I just see pros....

I wouldn`t thing this would be good for morale or employee loyalty, although I do see the benefit for the company financially.  Folks don`t like to be fired, no matter what or who will take them once it`s done.  It`s also a bad thing for their resumes unless you call it something like downsizing or a layoff.

Actually, those were some of my concerns when looking at this arrangement.  The truth is that I dont actually fire them.  It is all in the wording.  What happened is that this company "Co-employeed" them.

As far as employee moale and loyalty, the feedback has been good thousfar.  The employees now have access to major medical plans and 401k.  I was not able to offer this before.

The reason I am posting here is because I keep looking for the hook because it almost seems too good to be true, but so far no one has any negatives.

OK, I have been using PML`s professional employer organization (PEO) services now since Oct of 2006.  I am vary happy thous far despite my initial scheptisism.  My workers comp rates have been lowered.  My payroll is a sinch and their staff of HR experts are exceptional.

One thing that I didnt expect when going into this type of arrangement was the plethra of health benefits available.  They have 11 large group health programs and each employee can pick a different plan.  Truely Awsome.

Just FYI for users following this thread.

I think tiedye2000 is totally correct, in this employee leasing the employee loyalty is somehow a bit impossible because employees go where there is lots of works. But it's good for the company financially.

It will depend to your resources, especially your financial thing. It would be nice to lease if you have a huge money.

The thing is your not really firing your employees. You are just getting all of their hr done through another company so it makes it easier on your part. They do not have the job to hire or fire you, but only take care of the hr. Having a PEO is an advantage.
