I`ve used paypal by e-mail before, The problem with paypal by email is that, most clients when they see a pay now button they simply don`t pay attention to it. At one time I was using it but noticed that instead of helping the business it was hidering me. Why because, you are giving your customers a choice to pay whenever they want.
That should never be the case. You want to get paid when the payment is due. If you are going to open a Paypal account, your best thing to do is, add a link to your web site. Or on a secure page create each of your customers a landing page where they can pay you every month. Or, Simply ask them for their information that you can have at hand and whenever you do something for them, you enter their information into your payment gateway. As for which paypal account suites your needs... I would go with a Business Account. Once you set your business account request a debit card, which you can use to take out funds just like a bank card. If not, there is a 5 day waiting period when you transfer money to your account.. and that is not cool, that after they paid you have to wait 5 days..

Google Checkout? What`s that? I never heard of this.
I like the thought of being able to send my clients invoices once a month, especially one that has a due date, and more. There`s an AUDIT TRAIL! Does the system "ask me" for permission to depositing money into my bank account? Not just automatically? I guess my most important question of all, is Google Checkout, "secure" like PayPal?
Heads up! I was doing a little clicking around for what that Google Checkout. Thought you might like to read what "O`Reilly XTML.com" staffers replied to a person who ask them to review Google Checkout,
"I checked out "Google-checkout".
The overall process seems to be very easy but exactly that makes this solution very vulnerable. During checkout there was no security question to make sure that I`m indeed the owner of the Google account or the associated Credit Cards in that account. Of course I used my username and password but because there are so many Google sites, using the same username and password, it is very easy to loose your login information on a hijacking page as you might not check the url for Ad-Words or Gmail every time you log on as those services never had the possibility to shop with your Credit Card.
Now because you have one account and login information for all it is quite possible that hackers will try to get your login information from any Google service out there! Even worse is the fact that the hacker can change the password without any problem. The owner of the account might not even get any information about the password change as the e-mail is sent to the according and hijacked Gmail account.
Because of this HUGE security risk I would not recommend using Google checkout!
Please checkout the http://www.thebilliondollarpatent.com as s-registration solution that Google should have implemented in their service to make it solid and secure. This solution is requiring a third credential called TAN to make sure that ONLY the owner of that account is able to shop online even in case the account is hijacked.
I hope that everybody is aware of the security issue with Google checkout and will inform Google of a better solution!
Thanks and be safe;-)))!! Erdbeere | July 24, 2006 08:41 PM"
Paypal has the same feature as Google, you can send your customer and Invoice with your company logo and you can itemize the bill accordingly, the good thing about this featuer is the itemization of services. If you are going to use anything to run your business, why not get a Credit Card Processor with an E-Check feature on it? This might be a better solution. With the Virtual Credit card processor, you can charge by credit card, debit, and Check... you can even do the FAX invoice... or over the telephone...
One more thing GOOGLE is a Search Engine... Not a Processor... I guess people get startled when they hear the word google... They know the least about transactions... I think google should leave it to the pro`s... I guess they are trying to cash in on people`s vulnerability...
Thats a shame... First the Pay-Per-Click Fraud? Now Transactions? and Money? Watch out... be safe and be a wise shopper...
Maybe I`m a little confused as to your question/concern.
We use paypal ALL THE TIME. It never poses a problem or security violation...that`s where I`m confused as to your concern.
People have paid us for my husband`s book via paypal and he gets paid all the time via paypal for a site that he writes for.
There are things I do and get paid via paypal.
I don`t understand how nuevo states "That should never be the case. You want to get paid when the payment is due." .. that doesn`t make sense to me because .. if s/o doesn`t pay us then we don`t ship out his book ... I mean that`s just easy and simple. Yes, they have a choice of WHEN to pay, but that comes w/ a choice of WHEN they want to receive their product.
We chose personal. Reason being its free and we never get paid more than $500 a month. With pay pal the MAXIMUM w/drawal is $500 a month. You CAN CARRY a balance beyond $500 a month, but you just can`t take it out!! With a business you can take out more than $500/mnth but it costs to carry business
Now the DOWNSIDE of a personal account is that we can`t take a credit card .. some people tried to pay by credit card for purchasing his book; however, we aren`t able to accept it w/o going business or we aren`t able to accept it w/o paying a fee to accept it .. I don`t remember but nonetheless ... we can`t accept credit card
I don`t know if that helps
