One thing you might look in to is your local community college. They may have some courses on basic Web design, computer technology, and so forth.
You could "audit" some courses by paying a fee for the course. In that case, you wouldn`t be getting grades but would be sitting in on the class. You`d have to do your homework, but you`d be there purely for the knowledge.
Another option is to choose a simple, basic, and free place where you could offer a single product. We`ve found that
Bonanzle is an excellent place like that. It gives you a way to get into the business side of things without having to know the technology of an entire site.
That`ll get you some experience in terms of real business. It`s not about technology. It`s about having a product (or service) that people will pay you money in order to obtain results.
