Here`s a extremely little but highly effective method for doing this.

Easy: Name pages on your site (the title) after specific search words you want or if you have high competition, pick the lesser used search words.

Example: (a colleague`s site):

Google for "Electos" and see if you can find "Redeemed Hosting" (it takes a bit).

Now, Google for "Electos Tools" and bingo!  It`s the name of a page of his.

He has a PR of zero. and... outranks the manufacturer of the product here.

Here`s how I discovered it:

I had a page on my site named "Free Visual DataFlex" and until the manufacturer discovered this I came up first over 80,000 sites offering Visual DataFlex related sites.  Now, I come up third or so. "Applause Software". (I have a PR of 3 btw).

It`s just a short bit of advice, but I hope it will help someone!

Well, here`s an update: just doublechecked my work, and my friend has renamed his page to "Electos Tutorials".  Same result on google.

Sorry about the miscommunication.

Will double check before posting again, but he comes up first with the new page name!

Note, I automatically see the PR of each site I visit with an add-on from Google toolbar for IE and Firefox.

I don`t even know what Electos is. Is anyone searching for this term? Google Keywords says not really.

Hi nhgnikole,

Electos (at least the one referred to) is a dynamic content website publishing tool that`s new and has very little market share (very).

Do you get the same results as I do anyways?  a PR 0 takes the top listing?

Electos Tools gets me a PR6 first

Electos Tutorials gets me a PR2 first.

Or are you putting in quotes? In quotes gets me nothing for both.

I just figured out why I don`t know about it though ... requires IE6/7 and IIS ... ASP, bleh!

Hmm ... just reread the original post. Redeemed Hosting isn`t a PR0, it`s a PR2.

Hi: ... thanks for responding: maybe there`s something wrong with my google pagerank indicator?  Redeemed Hosting comes up zero for me.... can I ask what tool you`re using please?

Right, name your page something nobody else uses, then you will be ranked no 1 for that particular phrase...

However, it also means nobody`s going to search for that phrase...

Does it make sense to win a battle nobody care about?

PR indicator.. PR may be different depending upon which data center you access.

Also.. remember the PR you see is NOT real time. It is only the value as of the last time it was updated. It can be months between PR updates. So a site that shows PR0 may in fact be PR4 (in real time).
