Hi all -
Sorry if this is the wrong forum section. After nearly a year of research and development we have finally optimized the final design of our bike frame. We have gained a considerable amount of interest as well. We have found the perfect manufacturer overseas to manufacture the frames for us. Now we`re trying to research on what is needed to bring them into the states (we are in California). I understand we don`t need licenses and such. However all all types of fees/duties/taxes etc can we expect to pay? Keep in mind these are just frames and not completed bikes. Each frame weights between 4-5lbs. These are custom type frames so orders would be a qty 10 or so each time.
Thanks much for any help. This should give us a good foundation on what else to research or at least "what" to research
Regards,
EC

. Travis is right. You need a Customs Broker and they will handle all of that for you. This is the industry I was in BC (before children) so I can recommend a few companies (PM if you are interested). You do need to find out from your manufacturer what the terms of sale are. For example, mine are DDP (Deliver Duty Paid) therefore all that is arranged by my OEM. That may or may not be the case for you, so you need to find that out. If your terms are DDP, then those costs may be built into your price per unit. If your terms are freight collect, then transportation is your cost and sometimes you responsibility, therefore you need to find a customs broker to work with. Let me know if I can be of help, but first thing is first, know what you are dealing with from the manufacturer.
