To all you idea people out there…is Oprah Winfrey the key to hitting it big?

In other words, if you appear on The Oprah Show, (with your product) are you guaranteed riches? I believe so.

Let me know your thoughts.

The reason people who get to Oprah`s show achieve "riches" is because they are already worthy of being successful. If Oprah (or her staff) chose a company with weak branding, no fullfillment process, or otherwise lacking real business skills... not only would the "new company" fail to achieve riches... Oprah would also loose the attention she receives for finding quality people and products.

I do not believe just being on Oprah will "guarantee" riches. I do think, if you are chosen by Oprah, you`re gonna make it with, or without her. It might as well be with her... She will provide buzz and great PR resources.

I think you will be "guaranteed riches" because Oprah has made sure you could handle it... if she points her finger in your direction.  So yes. Guaranteed because you are ready. (there is no real guarantee for success)

Oprah chose you (or the business she chose) because she is using your skills, product, service... what ever... to help HER succeed. Your success helps her, just as her success helps you.

BUT, Oprah has made EMPIRES out of companies who are on her "favorite things" shows.  But, you gotta be one of her FAVORITE THINGS, first.

Some smaller companies have nearly been worked to death over the orders from that annual show.  Some of them didn`t even know they were going to be ON it until about a week before so they couldn`t even really prepare much for the avalanche.

But, I agree, if she is going to feature you as a success story, there has to be some success there first.  I always joke and say that I keep the ScrapBiz International Office clean so that when Oprah calls, I`ll be ready.  However, I`m not sitting by the phone...

Even if I were working from a cardboard box... and Oprah thought I had something people wanted... I would work with Oprah to help me into something a bit larger than a cardboard box.

Hell! You got Oprah`s attention! That`s great!

Thank you for your reply. We have had about 12 telephone meetings with one of Oprah’s producers. We are attempting to put together a show about women and their loss, or lack of sleep. Now days a person can purchase mattress’s that are duel comfort. Most couples when they go to bed prefer different mattress firmness. Likewise, couples in most cases prefer different temperatures (warm or cool) of their sheets.

This is how I came about to found my company, Split the Sheets.

Split the Sheets are split down the center from head to toe. One side is warm polar fleece, and the other side is cool cotton. The pillowcases are polar fleece on one side; flip it over for cotton on the other.

We have received a wonderful welcome in the marketing world. Now we are praying Oprah will have us on.

Interesting concept!  My husband spent a couple of years in Denmark and when we were married, he introduced me to the wonderful world of separate down comforters!  Americans do it all wrong - we try to sleep under the SAME sheet and blanket and someone is always a blanket hog or too hot or too cold.  We can hardly stand to sleep in a hotel and share sheets - he rolls up like sausage roll in the blanket and I fight it all night.

He has HIS single down comforter covered with a Egyptian cotton sheet slipcover and I have mine.  I tell ya`, it`s the best!  The Danes have it all figured out!

Good luck with Oprah!

Hags:

GREAT idea for your product! I think it will be a BIG success with or without Oprah.

If the Oprah producers are open to it, why not pitch a story idea like this one; "Married, but separated; I couldn`t get to sleep with my mate." It could be ALL about everything you reference here. Men like it cold. Ladies like it hot. I`ve known some couples who resort to sleeping in other rooms because they can`t find a happy medium. The show could talk about that and of course the answer would be buy your great sheets! Now the couples can rest comfortably, together.I know that I`d definitely watch that show!
