Hi everyone,

I am moving everything to www.yourbeautyboutique.com  It is a mac websitebuilder site and I did do it myself.  Considering that point, can you tell me what you think of the template, text, ease of navigating the site and any general advice.  I am shooting a commercial I will air online this month to help drive traffic to it, luckily I found models with experience to do it for free just because they loved the website and product descriptions.   Still,  I want to get a general critique of it from SUN members.

Your main page talks about you too much. Nothing personal, but thats not why people are on your site. Visitors are potential customers; customers aren`t there to learn about you right away, customers want to see products they are interested in, and know how those products are going to benefit them.

Also, where are your pictures? Personally, if I look for a line of products I`m interested in, and I can`t actually see anything, I have no incentive to buy. Nice clear product images are essential to selling.

When viewing the site with IE 7... there is a poor transition to any page.
That is - there is a flash of a blank white page before the next page loads.

I will remedy that.  There is a large picture on the home page of the Sea Ora Products and if you click on the products the pictures are there.  With the webbuilder, you can only see the photos if you click on the product.

Hey Katherine, I have been through your site and I would suggest putting more product picture on your homepage. Perhaps a little design on your navigation panel at the left side so it won`t mislead the viewers.

I can`t put pictures on the homepage.  The Macwebsitebuilder doesn`t have that option.

Katherine, you seem to like using bold font everywhere - both here in the forum and on your site. Avoid that, because typically it is not a good practice to make everything bold. Make most important points, words or phrases bold, not the whole thing. It`s just hard to read.
I also don`t like lack of product images when I click on your products links.
Also, your site seems to load slower then most web sites. Looks like your hosting is in Canada - if your main market is in the U.S. then I would move to a host in U.S.

If your site makes you money then if I were you I wouldn`t waste time with Macwebsitebuilder and get a real e-commerce site made.

Thank you for the input.  I can`t afford to have someone design it and I have to have a site that I can change and control right now. There are pictures, but you have to click on the product.  I am only now starting promotions, so it will be a while before I can afford to hire an in-house web person, as I have to keep it as inexpensive as I can.  Someone is going to be sending me loads of suggestions for me to make changes to improve it.

Katt33,
Even when you have money coming in, my suggestion, don`t hire an in-house person right away. Trust me, it`s not cost effective and if you don`t know much about IT then you won`t be able to manage this person. In-house IT / design should be next step after you have in-house sales and marketing first.
