To be honest the commission does not depend on whether the product is selling for over or under a $100. It depends on what is the profit percentage. Some people take 10% which some take as much as 40% if possible. For online products such as ebooks, some take 50% +

The sales reps I worked with received 6% of gross sales for the product sold within their service area.

These days there is tremendous change in selling strategy of products which results in high commission for the people who are engaged in it as a mediator or as wholesale provider.

There is no fixed percentage that a sales representative receives. It totally depends on the strategy of the company on how much it wants to pay to the sales rep. Different products have different percentages, like a toothpaste selling company may offer you a commission of 5-10% while a IT services company may offer a commission of 20-30%.
