Thanks for the topic.I am in the business planning stage of my business. When I was writing my business plan I came up with the exact same question just in a different context. I also like Laurens advice it will suit my situation perfectly. I have to make sure that I am consistant all the way through the whole plan.

I find the use of the plural in business communications to be fine even when you`re a one-man operation.  If anyone questions it, then you simply say your business model is scaleable ...    ... because who knows?  One day, you may need to hire administrative staff or technicians to accommodate growth in your business.

Hi banar,

I like your web site.  I like the colors and the part of you explain your qualifications and certifications.  That is a punch.  Personally if I would like to hire someone I look first his web site and then if I feel attracted to, I click different pages to look quickily if something else attract me.  Information, qualifications and portfolio are the next point to check.  But the more important for me is how much your web site attract me...I mean in the web... you have hundreds and hundres of websites.... how to find the right person? wich one to choose?  Well in that case, the words I or US are not relevant for me (like client)  but certainly it is important when I will start up my own business.

Very good question, it was interesting what I learn here.  Thks

Who was your web designer?

For the tagline, I agree with Craig.

Sylvie,
I designed my website myself. It was long time ago. I would do it different today, I don`t mean web design but development. Lately I use Ruby on Rails, AJAX, CSS and XHTML. If you are looking for someone to do web design and development for you, please let me know. I can explain you whole process and give advice. I will be more than happy to help. Not only web design I can help you with, also logo, business card, letterhead, fax cover sheet, envelopes, brochures, postcards, etc.

Hi TomasZ,

Thank you so much.  You just come from the sky.  That are the things I would like to hear from a web designer.  I will certainly e-mail you.

I am first of all a mom of teens twins and before that I graduate like programmer and I am electronic technician and made three years at the University in Engineer program.  That was 20 years ago.  I also worked in the field and last thing I did I was to be in charge of new employees in a big company(french side).  I also was trainner and technician support and I create a technic book for new stuff in telecomunications. So I was out of the technical part of the job for about last ten years.  After that I just kept some part time jobs to keep going.   Now, I`M BACK and ready to work but for my self.  I love computers stuff, software, internet, web, websites, design... but It will take me certainly some time to get update.... and we didn`t talk about the costs of all those expensives softwares (Bill Gate!..  joke!)

Well, I love this web site here.  It motivates me every single time I log In.  I feel  motivated to communicate with you.

Thank you at you guys at team StartupNation, and thank you Tomasz.

By the way, do you know some spanish.  There is a web site in spanish i would like to discuss with a web designer.

thanks again.

I like the simple design.

Should you remain with the "Why Us"
beginning, I`d like to suggest that
you follow that question up with
the answers of  your testimonials.

Allow those who have used your
service sell it as well.

For your copy, I`d like to suggest
this: What are the top 5 to 7 issues
or problems of your target audence?

List them begin with action words, then
close it with something., letting them
know you can resolve them.

Continue to make this the best day ever!

Won`t Be Denied!

Banar,

Thanks for posting such a great topic! I have followed along, as I too was having some of the same questions.

Thanks to all of those that have posted great ideas to the thread, as they have been really informative and extremely helpful.

Sylvie, I have twin boys (15) myself, aren`t they fun

Here`s another vote for using "We" rather than "I".  I think you want to appear to be more than a one-person operation.  If it seems that it`s just you, your customers may wonder what happens if you get sick, go on vacation....  And on that note, since you ARE a one-person business, the top priority is to stay healthy, because without you, there IS no business.

Also, I was given the tip early on of using a suite number rather than an apartment number.  Looks better for home-based businesses.
