I`m now marketing my poster art in a new direction.  I just launched a site specifically for this niche.  I`m not going to say too much about it but I will jump into the discussion later.  Please take a look and tell me what you think!

posterofmyhome.com

Thank you

Okay...this is makin` me nuts! WHY did you choose the robin`s egg blue on maroon? I can hardly read it. Like, the tabs: "How do I get--a poster of my home."

`Course, I`m pretty old---I realize that---so maybe it`s just my eyes. My hair gets in my eyes all the time. Drives me nuts!

Second comment: Do you like sites that have lots of questions? Are you sure your customers like questions? How good do lead-ins do when they`re phrased as questions?

Here`s what I`d choose on the landing page:
Capture your Home in a Poster!

Then, in the content you could ask, "Do you love your home?" and go on from there. I think I`d lose the first sentence about "the pride you hold for your home," and just start the main paragraph with the second sentence. I`m sort of seeing a passive wishy-washiness that could go away, y`know?

Could you move it more into the active voice, maybe? I`m thinking along the lines of:
Poster art, unlike traditional portraiture, produces a vibrant, unique style! Having your house done as a poster celebrates the beauty of the architecture with a unique, poetic flair. ....and so forth...

Maybe?

The gallery didn`t show at all (images), on Firefox 1.x, Win98SE.

Cool idea, as we`ve said before, and a great idea!! I`m a little uncomfortable with the price, but that`s because I don`t have that kind of money and don`t know all that much about pricing art. If it`s the going rate, that`s fine; maybe focus in your target market pretty strongly, though.

Another idea, taking from your commentary on extras: Why not just offer a package of the main poster, and also a starter pack of blank cards? Maybe a dozen?

This sentence, on the order page, is redundant:
I will let you know what’s needed to get started and provide you instructions on how to send me digital photos, if needed.

You say the poster requires a digital photo, so remove the "if needed."

All in all, pretty cool stuff. :-)

Hey Steve,

Cool business idea!  I think Craig hit it on the head with the styling and marketing though.

Hi Steve,

I love it, but then I am a big fan of yours.

I noticed 2 small typos

1,   under `How do I get a poster of my home? What else do you offer?"
I can do several versions of your home poster.  For example, if I the original"

OMIT  the I in -"For example, if I..."

 2.  under `How do I get started` Contact me and I will be get back in touch with you shortly.  You can fill out the form below or reach me more traditional ways."  ADD `in` after me and before more.  Should be "reach me in more traditional ways."

Overall I was able to navigate the site and figure out where to go for information.

the only confusion I had was that the See Historic words on the poster took away from my understanding of the site.  The great tag line  Do you love your home?, and the See historic are so close together, and on the same slant that they seem to go together-like they are part of the same sentence. it may be a little confusing...does that make sense.   what if you used the other beautiful poster from from highland ave. for the home page?

I like the fact that you cannot send a blank form.

I hope this review helps.

I am on an IBM thinkpad, 15 in screen, XP professional, IE 7.0,

Hey, I replied to all of you on this thread last week.  I guess the post never took.  Sheesh!  Well, thanks again to all of your for your comments.

Craig, I`m not sure why you couldn`t view the gallery.  At the time of your comment, I had only looked at the site on two computers because it had just gone live.  But since then, I have viewed it on several - PC`s, Macs, Firefox, Safari and Explorer.  I`m sure I haven`t viewed every possible combination but I haven`t had any problems with the gallery.  But thanks for calling that to my attention and I will see if it becomes a bigger problem with other people.

I will be putting together a "package" for notecards, postcards and such as you suggested.  I`m still pricing that out.

You mentioned the colors making it hard to read.  I don`t know exactly what part you are talking about but I am assuming you mean the top navigation buttons.  I had purposely made those low contrast to keep the viewer`s attention on the main content of the page.  But in no way do I think they are difficult to read because of the colors.  Also, I have learned that all monitors are different.  I`ve seen my artwork on some computers that just make me shudder.  I of course know nothing about your screen but as a disclaimer, "colors may vary".

And thanks for all your comments about the copywriting.  I did make a few small corrections but for the most part it still reads the same way.  I do happen to like the big question.  :)

Hi Steve,

What a great idea! The opening text on our home page is very compelling, the colors blend well and the layout is simple, yet attractive.

I was able to open the gallery, but it loaded a bit slow. That could be my computer. I use IE7, but I also opened it in FireFox (FireFox was a bit faster).

You`re a very talented artist. I wish you well in your endeavor.
