You can advertise on craigslist and also search for freelance website where people post projects where designers such as yourself can bid for the work.

I really liked using 99designs for some of my branding.

I'd suggest identifying your target market and then doing research to figure out how best to reach those potential clients.

Networking, car signs and business cards are all easy ways to make contacts.

You can also try applying at a company like Upstack that connects graphic designers with clients looking for logo, print and web design.

Some amazing ideas here!  Have you tried building a reputation with other personalized stationery companies and trading ideas and promo's for each others work?  I've found an incredible amount of support from people who would be considered the "competition" but we market different strengths.  Good luck!

Create your brand and be sure you carry it across in every aspect - your web, print, ads, and business cards.

Identify your target audience and personalize your approach.  You can be successful by really tailoring your interactions with potential clients.  It will set you apart from the crowd.
