Seeking startup funding advice and suggestions for a high quality (focus is on nutritious, organic ingredients) food/meal pickup & delivery service also offering cooking classes and lite retail. Any suggestions for sources of grants, private loans and other funding would be greatly appreciated for this minority owned business startup. Thank you.

Veronica,

There are a number of ways to bring outside capital into a business. finding the "optimum" one for you & your business depends upon a number of factors starting with the amount you are seeking.

While there may be a few local grants, I would not hold out much hope nor spend time trying to find grants from the federal government. There are federal grants available to small companies, but they are technology oriented and the first round is for R&D purposes.

If you wish to discuss your specific situation, feel free to send me a PM or contact me directly.

I have one additional thought to add – how much are you investing in the venture? Whether you are seeking a loan, equity or other type of funding, the source of that funding is going to ask this, “How much skin in the game have you put in?”

They want to make sure that if the business starts doing poorly, you don’t just get up and walk away.
