Hello, just discovered this forum while searching for answers. I've been in business since October of 2010, so going on 6 months roughly. Not sure if I'm too eager or not, but when do you begin to see things turn around in your favor?
My sales have remained consistent over the past couple of months, however no increase. Problem is that consistent would be fine if it covered monthly expenses. With Spring merchandise arriving we are now faced with funds going out and I'm not seeing an increase in traffic.
I have a facebook page and have contributed to several school's silent auctions to drive traffic. Children's magazine publications and radio runs which have generated new customers. However, again the expenses are outweighing the income.
My questions:
-How do you know when it's time to know you need to throw in towel? I want the store to succeed but also do not want to end up in major debt and then have failure with $$ due.
-How do you know what is causing you not to have traffic? Location is one factor for me as I do not have street frontage, however other locations which are in high traffic shopping centers have higher rental expenses.
Just looking for some guidance, whether it's offering suggestions to try or run for cover before the storm.
I look forward to learning from this site.
Thank you,
