I`ve been a long time lurker on these forums off and on over the last few years. In February my family and I began a new business venture, Angel Girl Inc. We opened our first store in Federal Way, WA and have recently started promoting our business through trade shows, fashion shows, and newspaper ads (our marketing strategy is still evolving). We decided to launch a website as quickly as we could because we anticipate most of our sales being orders instead of in-store pickups. The reason for this is, although our store as a wide physical inventory to select from, we offer hundreds of styles, color and accessory combinations so our real strength is in our ability to take orders.
EDIT: Sorry, apparently I can`t think strait this early in the morning. I completely forgot to explain what we do. Our company sells children`s apparel. Specifically, we offer special occasion dresses, boys suits & tuxedos, school uniforms, and consignment clothing. Out plan for the website is to start with the special occasion dresses, the next phase would add the boys suits & tuxedos, and the final phase would add the school uniforms. Right now we have completed phase 1: the dresses.
Therefore I come to you, the SUN forum community, to provide some feedback on our new website, www.angelgirlinc.com. Before you look at the site, here is some background about our company and goals:
- The website catalog is not completely finished. The primary section that is complete now is girls, but others are coming soon.
- The function of the website is to compliment are local selling activity and enable us to reach a broader, global market. That is, when we are at a wedding expo I want to direct near-sales to our website. I find a lot of customers will look at our physical product and then want to look at our website later. On the other hand I`d like people who`ve had no introduction to Angel Girl from somewhere else in North America to find the site and find it enticing enough to browse and buy on its own.
- I designed the site myself. I have previous web design experience, though a professional I`m sure could do more. I plan on eventually having a dedicated web designer redo the site, but for now our operating cash is all going to paying the bills while we build our local brick-and-mortar. If it`s any consolation I spent over 100 hours working on the site, and still continue to as I upload our catalog.
- Don`t hold back. Please feel free to tell me what you like, what you don`t - but most importantly, why and why you think it would matter to the relevant market.
- Most importantly: Thank you for taking the time to offer your opinions! It`s greatly appreciated!
