Hi Everyone,

I`m a newbie on here, but I want to introduce my web site: LandOrSlum.com:  The Landlord Rating Site.  The address is http://www.landorslum.com and I would appreciate it if you all would check it out and let me know if you have some suggestions, what you think of the design/layout/user friendliness, also any better ways to promote it.  Thanks for all your help and I look forward to hearing from you!

I see where Landlords can register....but why would they? If they`re going to be given a thumbs up or thumbs down, that`s a risk. Yes, I get the idea that if they`re registered AND get the thumbs up, it helps drive sales.

Fine.

But where does the critic register or post? The forums?

Why not have a tab for "Renters?"

Hello,

Thanks for a speedy response.  Actually if you go to the register tab, that allows everyone to register, renters and landlords alike.  The landlords tab is a place where renters can go to rate their landlords and vacation properties.  The plus about registration is that you don`t have to be registered to check out the ratings, so those who aren`t renters can view the posts because some of them are quite funny!  If this is confusing, I will think about how we can clarify.

Thanks!

I rarely register for a site. I have enough logins and passwords and don`t need more. Unless there`s a compelling reason to register, I just blow it all off.

As for being unclear that as a Renter I should visit the Landlord page... :-) Um...well, yah....!

Lol, dude, it seems pretty easy and straightforward to me. I mean, there are instructions on the front page plus if you are looking to view landlords, that`s the first place I would look, but that`s just me ;-) I also could see why they have a login system for the website. I used to run a forum with no logins and we ran into so much spam...it`s a good protection device for such a thing. I think it`s a great looking website, good job.

I get the idea of the login preventing spam, but look how easy it is to set up with SuN? Without registering you get to read a whole bunch of cool stuff, wander around the site, see what`s what. THEN if you decide to say something, you get to choose to register.

I`m a renter. I don`t need an apartment right now, but I`ve moved enough times that I`m well familiar with the process. If I were to use this site, I`d want to put in my ZIP code, get a list (cool if it were a Flash! map) of local apartments. Then see a rating system (stars, thumbs, gold coins...whatever).

I`d want to click the apartments, read the reviews.

If I`m already living in a place, I likely could care less about reviewing where I live until I leave or have an exceptional experience. Then, only if I were pissed or bored. :-)

Ummm, have you even looked at the website??? You don`t need to register to view anything, only to post. And there isn`t a place to put in a zip code, but all you have to do is select your state, then find your city. I don`t know what you`re looking at, but please get your information correct before you bash someone else`s hard work.......ass

To help you out BerrySweet, I think the site would benefit from a connection with a charity organization, so you could do some outreach.  This would add greater dimension to the site.  Just a thought though. Good luck with everything.

Yes, I looked at the site and we went off track with the register or not. Only reason is the big "Register" tab.

Bottom line, I see a lot about landords. Although it can be construed as involving renters, why should I have to "construe" anything?

I tend to agree with the volumes of literature written about how a Web site has between 4-10 seconds to interest a viewer who`s clicked on the site out of curiosity. From my perspective, this site doesn`t quickly tell me that it`s a way to get a critique of landlords.

Instead, in my own opinion, it looks like a site involving landlords..."somehow."

I find this site very useful. I have a daughter who is looking for an appartment in Pittsburgh, click, it tells me who is a nice person to rent from and how they maintain a property! Not being from the area it tells me alot!
