Hi All, I`ve put together a free online directory for the Custom Home Renovations Market. I have a list of Service Owners that I wish to contact but that`s not enough to get the site moving without spamming.

Any inventive thoughts on how to promote this free service?

Many thanks again to everyone in advance =)

Hello,

Is it local or nationwide?

Hi there =)

For now it`s local, but will be opened nationwide broken down by major cities. Each city will have it`s own site (Sub-Domain)

If it is local, then visit the business`s themselves or visit business groups or put an ad in the local chamber newsletter. that should help.

I have a little experience in collecting this kind of data.

www.thebluebook.com is an excellent directory for almost every region. I have always just called them up asked them if I can fax or email some information on my company and go from there.

Having built several homes in a few states I think the concept is great however I warn you to only reccomend GREAT contractors. there are a couple places I would look if I were you .First national websites like http://www.ownerbuilderbook.com/ as a former forum member there I have been contacted by many members looking for contractors.

another place; when people get construction loans they mostly are required to have a service follow the progress, these same services usually walk the clients through the budgeting process, as well as procurring contractors. COBS is a big one along with several others, I`d think they would would be willing to drive customers to you providing you have GREAT contractors.

just a thought

Hi Stan, thanks so much for your feedback and input.

What do you think of an online rating system to rank contractors and service providers? Contractors and Services could invite their current and past clients to rate and comment.

If I was looking for a great contractor, I`d first stop and check out those with great ratings and comments. Of course I`d need to dig further, but hopefully this can refine the search other than yellow pages and other forums. More tools for the Home Owner...

I wonder if a community based site would encourage talk within the niche directory???
