Hello all--

After lurking quietly on the StartUp Nation website for several months I`ve decided to join in on the Forum discussions.

I`m a psychotherapist (clinical social worker) in private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  I`ve been in practice since 1997, done a few other things at the same time along the way, but I`m going back to full time therapist September 1.

I`ve run several small businesses over the years.  I love my work as a therapist but frankly, I also love the process of running the business!  I`m wondering if there are any other therapists who feel the same way.  The usual response I have when I talk with colleagues is that they love the therapy work but hate being business people.

By the way, I really enjoy this website, I`ve read the StartUp Nation book, listened to some podcasts--I just think this is best resource out there to help with running a small business.

Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for the welcome messages and feedback on my website.  I can`t take credit for it--I had a professional web designer do it (colors and all, I`ve got terrible color-sense!)

I`m looking forward to many great discussions on the SuN boards.

[And Craig, therapy jokes are among my favorites!  In fact, I`ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate cartoons into my website and/or blog--any ideas anyone?]

Nancy,
We actually had for a short while, some Startup Nation-based cartoons from "Stella."

Have you thought about maybe finding a cartoonist and having something created? There`d be a synergy there, where you might pay a flat fee for a strip, but add in maybe the value of having shared linking?

For the cartoonist, the promotion on a more serious site would be great in a portfolio. You could put the credit down in the footer, where you often see messages like "Hosted by SuperWeb, Inc." and things like that.

Too many Web sites of all sorts take themselves so damn seriously! I think it`d be a fabulous idea, having psych-based humor. :-)
