Here is one of my first properties (I am part owner) to launch in the DEE "down economy era." I have 3 more coming but thought you guys should get a look at it first.

We have a few more tweaks to go as  far as smooth signup functionality, and some other clean up items, but it`s far enough along for show and tell:

http://www.citybarter.com - (linking doesn`t work with a mac on this site, sorry)  look below for additional URL instructions as it`s not live yet, but you get a sneak peek:

If you go to index.html you will see the functioning site -

Hope you like - feedback always appreciated

On your main page, the tour link, Start Now and Why Barter? links aren`t functioning. Many of the menus are not going to actual pages. ( Just mentioning it since you said functioning site )

In the search area of the main page, what exactly is the search looking for? Businesses, or items/services that I want or offer?

On the registration page, there is a lot of coding showing up below the actual user area. Also, it mentions there is only a cost when you contact someone. What type of cost? That line makes me leery as I don`t have any idea ahead of time what type of payments you will want for me to actually get that involved.

If I type in just your domain name, I get redirected to the pre-registration page instead of the index page. Is that intentional?

I joined to see the progress and perhaps use it along the way. At the thank you page, I noticed that all of the info I added in the pre-reg page is present in the url. Might want to eliminate that. You also don`t have a username/password/captcha system in place, which isn`t critical but I think many people are getting used to them so it seems a bit odd when they aren`t present.

All in all though, it looks good and I`ll keep checking in with it.

It looks pretty good and professional.  I`m not sure I got the meaning of free to join and what I actually have to pay for.

Bartering was big in the last recession and networks sprang up like weeds.  Most got shut down by the IRS because barter exchanges are income, according to the IRS.

On the sign-up page (like Michael I had to explicitly go to your index page), I don`t understand why you have both a drop-down list (unsorted at that) and a check-box list for the same questions.

I also saw the code below the page.

the code is for debugging - and the links that don`t work are being written - I`ll give you an update soon. The checkboxes are coming out and moving to another page.

More to come Monday or so -  Thanks!

Art,

Anybody that`s a fan of bartering is a fan of mine! Even though in my extensive experience in the business I`ve never come across an online-based barter company that has actually worked and been profitable, there is always a first and this economy is certainly a great time to be launching.

From all at Merchants Barter Exchange, we wish you all the very best of luck with your bartering endeavor!
