"In 2002, I was very fortunate to dodge a bullet. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at an early enough point that surgery and chemotherapy gave me a fighting chance. That was six years ago, and it looks like I`m going to make it!" -- First LastName, MD

In the past decade, medicine has begun to closely examine the benefits of a wellness approach to health and well-being. For a long time, doctors have treated illness after the fact, the so-called disease approach. Now, they`re looking at ways to support health.

NeoVitin is a wellness product formulated by Dr. First LastName as a result of his experience with serious illness. As a physician having gone through the disease model, he decided to change his focus. Why should we wait until we`re ill? Why not instead, stay healthy?

Dr. LastName experimented during the five years of his ongoing recovery with many products. Learning what worked and what didn`t, he formulated a multi-vitamin/antioxidant after researching products from all over the world. NeoVitin was created to complement his medical treatments, to help him feel better and regain his strength.

Hi Tom,

I`m new here, but I thought I`d throw my two cents in. First off, Craig`s suggestion is fantastic! You also mentioned having trouble directing people off the home page to other areas of the site. I think the "NeoVitin Provides:" section can be useful in achieving this.

For example, it says Defense against "free-radicals" - why not link that to About NeoVitin, where you explain the free radicals? You could also provide a little more information on the About page to beef up your content. The same goes for the other benefits NeoVitin provides - just link them off to more detailed explanations of the antioxidants, etc.

I think that would be a step in the right direction, anyhow. Best of luck to you!

OK. As this is a sales website, I think you’d do better redoing it as a sales page minisite. Have a strong headline, and sales copy that tells a story -- along the lines that Craig suggests above.

You’ve had a website designer design the page for you, and although he/she has made it look very pretty, it’ not really a sales page IMHO. It’s more of a corporate identity website -- which is great, but not really what you need right now.

You want something that:

Draws the reader in

Keeps them reading

Extols the benefits

Tells the reader what’s in it for them

Closes the deal

You also need some testimonials from real (identifiable) people so visitors know this is a bona-fide product and not snake oil!

My advice would be to get a copy of Jim Edward’s Mini site creator http://www.minisitecreator.com/ (not an affiliate link). I’ve been a fan of Jim’s for years and what he doesn’t know about creating sites that sell isn’t worth knowing.

Good luck with the project. It’s very worthwhile. I hope you sell lots.

Tom,

I think you could definitely link to the articles for more information. I`d just recommend that the articles re-emphasize the benefits of NeoVitin and have clear navigation for the customer to purchase it. I`m no web designer, but I really don`t think you need to scrap your site. It just needs a little tweaking!

I think I`d just have a tab that says "Articles" or "Press," something like that. VideoGuy makes a good point, though, that as the site stands, it doesn`t tend to be a sales page.

I recently was reading through a magazine about hunting and fishing, at a doctor`s office. I like fishing, and there was an article about finding bass. When I finished that, I thumbed through the magazine and came to a full-page "story" about a new lure. I knew it was a sales ad, but it didn`t "feel" so much like an ad.

The headline was seriously attractive, something along the lines of "New Lure Technology may be Banned from Tournaments!"

Okay, so I could see it was a bit hyperbolic, but it was enough to directly get me reading the page. Then, because it was laid out like an article, I read the whole thing. I wrote down the Web address, and when I got home, visited the site.

Now THAT`s a sales pitch! :-)
