Hey everyone,

I see and read so many links. Could someone guide me to a link that lists businesses that you can start from home, like accounting, computer repair, etc. No niche necessary - already look at bizbuysell for ideas, need more.

Objective: a link with a general list or resources guide

Thanks... Lee

Lee,

It`s more important that you coose something you`re interested in. Self employment is a lot of hard work, so don`t just choose something randomly. You need to choose something that you can talk about with endless enthusiasm! People will see through you if you are only going through the motions.

Best of luck with it!

Lee - I agree with "asykes".

You need to identify a Definite Chief Aim (definiteness of purpose). This is the first Lesson in Napoleon Hill`s time-tested book The Law of Success. Read it.

HI Lee:

I agree with the previous posts, but I was in your situation where i hit a wall on what to do.  Sometimes you just need that little guidance that will suddenly "light up the bulb" of what to do.

I do recommend you first use the Life Planning tool in SUN.  It will help you determine what kind of businesses align to what you want/wish to do.  For example, I had a friend that wanted to spend more time with his family, but started a consulting business that, once succesful, has him traveling 3 weeks a month...he`s actually spending less time now with his family!

You can search for "hot business ideas" on the google, and find a ton of advice.  web.  I recommend entrepreneur.com list (http://www.entrepreneur.com/hotcenter) and this article is pretty good too ( http://sbinformation.about.com/od/startingabusiness/a/homebu siness.htm).  Check out also a forum here in SUN about hot business ideas.

Good luck on your quest.  Dont forget to do your Life Plan before picking your business.  You may step on a land mine if you dont do it.

Rafi

I am sorry, but I should have explained myself a little further. I have owned and operated 3 successful businesses in the past. Circumstances beyond my control led to their demise. I have experience, talent, expertise and energy. I don`t have a product or service. Unfortunately, I also don`t have a "personal interest or hobby" that I can combine. I just have ambition, and the will to succeed.

I need basic ideas or lists that I can comb through (hopefully with demand tables, pricing and margin percentages).

Hello all..."Long time listener, first time caller."

I think it is important to find something you are passionate about, but I "might" be passionate about something I didn`t know existed as a business.  For example, I work in computers - have for over a dozen years - and I know that I am not interested in having a computer business full-time.  A few years ago a "computer colleague " of mine started a laser tag arena.  He`s never looked back.  Now he owns three of them, and says he is having so much fun!

Personally, I would love to do something "FUN".  I think fun breeds passion.  So a list of businesses might bring to light some ideas that Lee has never thought of....which might be "fun"!

Lee, I would echo what everyone else seems to be saying. What are you passionate about? What do you love to do? What are you best at?

Start with that. A business is a a vehicle for building wealth in the long-term--10, 20, 30 years and beyond that.

Companies that endure and create real wealth are started by individuals with a burning passion for what they do.

I would encourage you to change your focus.

Sincerely,

-Danny

I dont really agree with everyone. I am in the same boat <cannot find a business>. When I look at my passions, hobbies, interest, and abilities I do not find anything that I want to do. I think many find their niche when it hits them like a brick wall. You first see it, research it, and learn it, then you do it.

I know many people start businesses within subjects of their passion but what about that guy/gal who started the business in which they thought was ineresting and knew nothing about what it entailed and they do very well because they are not stuck in that paradigm that the others in that industry are.

So my recomendation would be what I am doing...researching trends and existing businesses to see how they can be ran different, how they can be improved. You might find something there.
