Hey all,

I`ve recently received a government purchase order for roughly 10,000 worth of IT equipment.  I`m trying to find someone to finance my purchase of this equipment (roughly 9,000). It`s a short-term loan (less than 45 days).  Any suggestions as to where I can find 9K for a short-term deal?

Thanks!

If you have the letter in hand awarding you the contract, I should think your local SBA office would be the first place to start.

Purchase order financing can be used to finance the cost of producing goods or services.  You need to combine it with accounts receivable financing to ensure the purchase order financier is re-paid with interest at the date the goods are shipped and invoiced.

Purchase order financing is a bit on the expensive side - you need to have profit margins of at least 15% to justify its use.

I`ve written an article entitled "Purchase Order Financing - A Tool for Explosive Growth" which can be found on my blog at http://marshall-showmethemoney.blogspot.com/2006/06/purchase -order-financing-tool-for.html

Or check prosper.com (which was profiled a little while ago on SuN). It`s an interesting community driven loan site.
