Hello,
I need your advice
I would like to rename one of our software products. Its name is AvailSuite Pest Control (this is a software for pest control businesses) and I want to have more specific name.
What do you think about PestSuite? Or PestiSuite?

How about DeBug?

Sorry, I couldn`t resist...

I see that the software covers many aspects of a pest control business. I`ll think more.

The problem I`m having is that the word "pest" is absolutely a negative connotation. Putting into your product name either means you have an insecticide, or you`re off into some bad-looking product.

If I understand it, you offer a vertical-market solution to running and managing a pest-control business. What if we go backwards, and start with the most boring name possible:
Pest Control Business Management Software Program.

We can "parse" that into concepts: "Pest control," "pest control business," "business management software," and "software application."

Can we begin brainstorming some interesting ways to re-state or re-phrase each of those concepts?

Pest doesn`t have a negative connotation if you are in the pest control business.

Oh don`t be a pest!

No, you`re right about if you`re in the pest control industry. But a pest is something to get rid of, so you have Orkin Pest Control.

If you`re working with a business management system, I think we can come up with something more interesting, more attractive, and with some pizazz....and that doesn`t use "pest" in the same context. After all, someone already invented pest-o sauce, right? The Italians?

Yes, I agree that a pest is something negative, and it`s more than negative for a software product.

But if this is a solution for the vertical industry, pest control businesses should understand this from its name...

Exactly. We need a name that everyone in the pest-control business can easily associate with "This is a vertical solution for my business, I need it now." But I think it shouldn`t include the word pest in the name.

That`s not to say you can`t differentiate on the tagline. So you`d end up with:

CleverName Software---The total solution to managing your pest-control business.

........still thinking.... :-)
