Hi,

I have an idea for a product and would like to proceed with developing a prototype, but I'm not sure where to begin.  My product is a sport-specific athletic glove, similar to those that NFL players use (its not for football though).  Athletic gloves are typically made out of leather, neoprene, polyester, silicone, or other similar materials.  Seeing as how I am a 22-year old dude who just graduated from college, I don't exactly know what materials you might find at your typical fabric store or seamstress, but I'm pretty sure that the fabrics I listed aren't among them.  Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Arthur

You need to look for more industrial fabric sources. Chances are, any decent size city has a fabric supplier that caters more to a commercial sewing clientele. Look online for commercial sewing supplies. As for prototypes, you might try simply looking for glove manufacturers, or try a local shop that makes tents or other heavy material products. They may not be able to do the work, but they might be able to point you in the right direction to someone who can.
