Yes, I`m very excited about doing a major benefit for the chapter in Los Angeles in conjunction with the launch of our new SpyWorldAdventures, fantasy travel company.

My partner, Matt Sherman, who is one of the foremost James Bond authorities in the world, and I put on the first ever spy related fan convention on the Queen Mary back in August 2003 where we had over 65 stars from spy related TV and film projects like George "On His Majesty`s Secret Service" Lazenby; Maud "Octopussy" Adams; Lana "Plenty O`Toole" Wood; David Heddison, Timothy Moxson; David "Kill Bill" Carradine; Robert "I Spy" Culp; etc. It was a BLAST!

Well now Mattie has gotten together an even that will rival our other one. Have you ever heard of the prestigious Aston Club of LA?  Well unless you recently purchased an Aston Martin from the LA dealership you could not visit there - period. UNTIL NOW!

We have arranged for up to 100 lucky people to attend a gala affair at the Aston Club without buying the Aston Martin, which goes for a strip down model in the neighborhood of $400,000.

We are going to offer Platinum, Gold and Silver Packages which will allow a person the following:

6 tickets and a co-sponsorship of the event for $10,000

4 tickets for $5,000

2 tickets for $2500

There will be 5 star food and drink, drop in Bond stars and other celebs and a night in one of the most exclusive clubs in the world!

So you think that will fly?

Your thoughts are GREATLY appreciated!

Hugh Simpson

Interesting that nobody`s thought of a spy-related organization. Obviously, lots of people know about the Star Trek conventions, and the whole sci-fi genre has plenty of conventions. This sounds like a really interesting idea!

I`m supposing it`ll mostly be time-intensive, dealing with memberships and logistics. Do you have s solid Web site to handle newsletters, information, and advertising? If so, I`m wondering if you might get some help and interest from publishers?

Seems to me that these days, most publishers sit at their phones waiting for them to ring. Perhaps if they could boost some sales in an entirely passive way, by publishing a small ad on the back inside cover (paperbacks?), that would interest them in some way.

Like anything, if you can be consistent and long-running, you`re likely going to gradually build up an excellent following. ;-)

Another possibility is a national direct-mail campaign to public libraries. Here in Batavia, we just built a new library, and it`s really stunning. They constantly have all sorts of information about events, and I`ll bet they`d at least put up a mention of a particular convention.Maybe?
