Hi everybody.

I just started a credit repair website and I need advice on how to market it properly and cost-effectively.  It generates $19.95 for each consumer I help, but it seems to me that it means that my marketing budget is limited by that income.  I have signed up with google adwords as somebody suggested but I could use some help as well in writing the ads.  The title is limited to 25 characters and you have 2 lines of 35 characters each to get your entire message across.  HELP me, please.

P.S. To check the website, it`s www.CreditLiberation.com

Thanks in advance for any and all help

While google ads or yahoo, etc can bring traffic to your site, more people click on search engine results than on keyword ad results.

Also, it is best to make sure your site is search engine and user friendly BEFORE paying for traffic.

If you go to your site and check the "cache" version on Google you will see there is absolutely no text cached... as of 3/21/07.  This is because you are using "frames" for your site and search engine have a problem following link into frames.

You also do not have any backlinks which is very important for getting traffic and getting web bots to regularly visit your site.

Suggestions:

Redo the site without frames. Get backlinks, submit your site to search engine friendly directories

Suggestion:
Forget the AdWords account.
Put your URL in your signature and hang out on some credit chat rooms.
Find some bloggers who talk about things and have them link to you.
Make your own blog where you talk about credit issues and identity theft issues, etc.

I`d second the dump the iframes part. Make the site content-rich and google-friendly. Keyword it.

Yes, I would consider a blog. I`m finding it a good way to market within
my niche, even though I haven`t launched my website yet. I assume your
market is people looking for answers on fixing their credit and rebuilding
their finances. Blog about those subjects. Throw in success stories. Give
little budgeting tips. Treat the blog as a teaser for your site. Treat it as
an ongoing FAQ. Let your customers submit questions that you can
answer and make sure part of the answer is signing up for your services.
I`m just throwing out ideas here.

Just know that blogging takes a lot of discipline. It`s something you do
for the long haul, not a short term marketing strategy. The greatest
advantage is that it lets you reach your customers on a more personal
level than your standard site.

Thanks for all the advice, guys!  I purchased the website already put together and I need to either learn how to create the website without frames or find someone to do it for me.

As for the blogging, that seems like a serious, almost full-time commitment.  I don`t know how much time is actually involved for the long-haul, but I don`t know if I have the time for that.  Any more info?

And finally, what are backlinks?

Thanks again, everyone!

I like Nikole`s suggestion.

Credit repair is such a huge field, you`re competing with all the telemarketers and direct mailers offering the same thing, not to mention the many radio ads. So you`re going to have to somehow differentiate (that unique sales position thing).

One thing we`ve found that`s helpful in getting us indexed by Google is to sign up for their Google Analytics. They give you some code you pop down into the bottom of your page so they can track your visits. That has the side benefit of putting you into their main system, it seems.

I visited the site, but it`s too "blah" for my tastes. It`s "just another site" of millions. If you can get ahold of a good layout person, maybe it wouldn`t cost more than your budget to get something different looking? That`ll depend on your USP though, first.

We have/had a member, Tawnya, with a huge knowledgebase on how to operate the Web and search engines. She refers to an article on her site about backlinks, which you might use as a starting point.

You might also look at this post about driving traffic to a Web site.

That backlinks thing just led me on a really interesting goosechase.

Here`s the big picture though: if you are in a highly saturated market (and credit stuff is) ... you will never win on google unless you have an INCREDIBLE marketing budget. And I mean ENORMOUS.  So ... if you are not going to win in SEO, backlinks are not your concern.

Slide under the radar with viral marketing.

The duct tape marketing guy was on SUN for one of the shows ... He said something that stuck with me, something like "find your niche, don`t compete on price". So if you are competing in the search engines, you`re competing with everyone, and unless you`re the biggest and cheapest - you`re never going to win. Find a smarter way to promote yourself.

Again, I`m agreeing with Nikole. Don`t compete on price....make yourself different.

What are the many attributes and characteristics of someone who needs credit repair? List them, then find some commonalities. Work out the specific type of customer you`re going to go for, and build your niche. That`d be one way.

Short answer - backlinks are links from other website.."back" to your website.

The important part of backlinks is to have links that can be read by search engines AND ideally contain your targeted keywords. Here some reasearch is needed because you are targeting a very competitive market. So, your keywords should not be the highly competitive ones, but ones that may be more narrowly targeted.

Links can be links within your site, from other (ideally relevant) sites, search engine friendly directories, forums (your signature), blogs (yours and others), social networking, and the list goes on.....

Creating a site without fames is not a big task for your site since the content is already developed.
