Next week, April 23-27, is National Small Business Week.  As a representative of a credit union, I am looking for ideas to recognize our members who are small business owners/entrepreneurs.  I was thinking of passing out a lapel pin having to do with National Small Business Week, but was unable to find anything.  Of course, because of the lack of lead time, I am unable to have something custom made for the credit union.  Anyone have any ideas of a last minute--but doesn`t look like last minute--way to recognize these business members and show appreciation for what they do for our country?  It would also need to be something they would be proud to wear that tells everyone they are a small business owner!     (this is also posted in the marketing forum)

what about some type of certificate or award printed out that simply says thanks and we honor your commitment and personal drive. Of course you`ll toss something in about how your credit union supports their efforts. It`s easy and can be printed in time. If it`s done right I could see them framing it in their home office etc.

Hey my wife and I own a salon Downriver (sakora salon), in Brownstown Mi. Where`s your credit union at? I guess it is a small world after all!

That is definitely a good idea...especially because if they do frame it, the credit union`s name will be there in the office for people to see for a long time to come!

My office is in Woodhaven on West Rd. just east of Allen...right next door to Brownstown!

Hi Mark,

I love Todd`s idea of a certificate. You could also post something on a password-protected portion of your website and give the password to the appropriate members. This could be a discount coupon for a local spa, coffee shop, amusement park, etc., a special message from the executive team, or even a note stating that they will be receiving a special gift soon.

Also, you don`t have much time, but perhaps you could buy gift cards from local retailers and include these with the certificates. There are also promotional product companies that help businesses with their last-minute needs (try Benison International Group, www.benisoninternational.com).

Hi
I`m new here, but I have a suggestion.
You could create a networking function that could help you as a bank
actually create more business by offering a special appreciation breakfast for
your Small Business Members. It could be as simple as pastries and coffee
or bigger. But then you allow them the opportunity to network with other
businesses in the community whom they may never have met, and they can
also find out about other things you might be able to do with your credit
union. They feel special because you are recognizing them.

Just a suggestion!

:)
