I would not really recommend it until you have a very clear business model.
One common mistake people make in approaching a business with a web site is that they lose sire of the business model and start focusing on the web site....as if it is going to be the business.
If you start with a blog, you will need to come-up with high value content to poste there 3 to 4 times a week and will then need to drive a lot of traffic to it. Both of these are challenging to startout with and the lost opportunity costs can be very high if the content is not all really winning content.
That is why I suggested facebook. It provides more natural and organic traffic exposure. You can use the group like a community, poll the group members easily and refine your business model without spending money on building a blog and list building.
I would still encourage you to back up a few steps and look forward ways to define "what you will provide to whom"
