Chuck,

The era of the George Mason type basketball team is a thing of the past.  That only happens once in about 10 years.  Winthrop doesn`t have the players to match up with the Domers.  Sportscasters are like weathermen, they just talk to hear themselves talk.  What they say, for the most part, is insignificant, boring and trite and they get paid for their twaddle.  I intend to watch March Madness for what it is, one of the greatest sports spectacles of the year.  It`s even better than the Super Bowl.

Believe me Rick, I don`t put much stock in sportscaster`s opinions, and I`m well aware a George Mason doesn`t happen very often ("thing of the past"??? it happened last year ). That being said, lesser stories emerge every year, i.e. we would have been talking about Bradley`s great run last year had it not been for GM, or how about Kent State in `02 - there`s always a sub-6 seed that makes significant noise, which is one of the reasons the tourney most definitely outshines the super bowl by a mile!

Here is an article titled "NCAA Bracket Picking Tips" about Tournament stats It tracks which seeds have made it to each level.

Ok, I`m in.  My Terps are hot right now, but I used my head and not my heart and don`t have them going all the way.  I think all the ACC teams will do well. Florida State got robbed by not making it, the ACC schedule is just a different level then the rest of the conferences from top to bottom.  Good luck.

Kevin

Amen to that Kevin, only those who regularly watch ACC games can appreciate what a meat grinder it is.

Whatever! TarHeel boy.

Let`s face it, UNC`s season is already a success because they beat out Duke. That`s all the Tobacco Road folks really care about.

The sad thing is, you`re right - once we dumped the Dookies for a second time this year, and they got unceremoniously bounced in the first round of the ACC tourney, it was already a successful year.

But we do like those nat`l championship banners in the rafters of the Dean Dome, I think it`s time to add a 5th.
