My apologies in advance for not going through the 6 pages of responses (but went through the first page in it's entirety for the most part though), but hopefully what I write isn't redundant.

Supporting nhgnikole in what she said, MySpace is a waste.  You could possibly call it MyWaste instead for at least small business marketing or even big.  It is o.k. for entertainment businesses though...so with my initial critique does come with the caveat that it does focus on entertainers & I believe some musicians have had some success on it.  I'll defer to the "MySpace Social Media Consultants" out there, if there are any...

Facebook, as I (humbly ha ha) predicted a number of years ago or some form of social networking would dominate once it got society's acceptance which you has happened.  There's a reason why it's now butting heads with Google in terms of which site will eventually be the most visited one by users when jumping on a computer and eventually an iPhone or likewise device.  Of course this could change, but Facebook is #2.  There's a strong reason why "Facebook pages" show up sometimes first when people do searches.  It has INCREDIBLE Page Rank juice since Google (ironically FB's biggest competition) ranks it as a "10", the highest ranking possible for a website.

Definitely, definitely, definitely pay attention to trends and as a small or big business owner, I'd definitely NOT ignore FB, but embrace it's many uses.  I can probably tell you another 2 or 3 very legitimate ways of taking advantage of it for your business use that probably don't even look spammy.  Then again, the standards for what's spammy depends on the person.  Ha, ha...

It is very much accurate. Facebook has now become one of the most effective medium on the internet to market your business. Social Media is so strong today that it can also transform your business into a reputed brand. However, it totally depends on how you perceive this Social medium on the internet.

Myspace you can still market your business with but it won't be as effective as facebook.  Facebook has half billion users and will be hitting a billion users within the next two years. Facebook will be wide open and a huge gold mine when it comes to advertising your business.
