I believe there`s another interesting sea change taking place, based on the never-ending advertisements for how to get rich on the Web doing absolutely nothing.

EBay is once again changing their policy to get rid of as many volume sellers as possible and make it even more difficult for people to buy items through the site. Why?...nobody knows; they`re just trying to drive people away. One thing is they`re going to tell YOU how much you can charge for shipping (and handling). It`s not up to you anymore.

The reason, in my opinion, is that a flood of delusional desperados have bought these $50 disks that teach you how to make money on eBay. All you have to do is sell any kind of junk for $1, then charge $10 shipping and pocket the difference.

With the economy the way it is, all we hear about now is that the online world is the Magic Kingdom. Going back in history, this is absolutely the same thing as the great California gold rush. Only with a twist.

Imagine if you were told that in order to get rich in California, all you needed to do is stay in Philadelphia and tell everyone around you that you had a gold mine in California, then sell them shares in that mine. Oh...wait...people DID that!

No matter what period of history you study, there always will be people who believe that you can make money without any effort at all. But look at a good con artist: They put a tremendous amount of work into developing the con job. And that`s not even real! What must it take to develop a legitimate business?

Hello all,

This is Nappy girl.  This is my first time posting anything.  I am new to the community.  I am also looking for  ways to market my website on line.  I am looking for information and direction that will help me have better visibility when certain words are searched.  I spoke with Network Solutions about their product for marketing but I wanted to do more research.  I don`t want to commit to anything until I have done some research.  I have no knowledge of code.  So if there is something out there that is user friendly or if there is an inexpensive service available, please let me know.  Thanks.  My website is  www.naturalhair.org

Hi NappyGirl :-) Welcome to the forums, and it`s great that you`ve decided to post. How about starting your own topic, and putting just what you`ve said above as your topic content? I think you`ll find that people will more easily be able to give you specific thoughts and suggestions that way, instead of getting sort of lost inside another topic.

I agree that building a site doesn`t guarantee hits - u have to attract the right visitors to it. At first glance, your site doesn`t instill a sense of confidence in your graphic design skills. Showcase your work! You don`t have to know HTML or be a web developer. You can hire some to create a template file with your design and CSS attached to it and someone else (if needed) to cut it for you. We just did this for our site and we can`t wait for our new re-design to launch in the next 2 weeks.

Once you have the right look, you`ll be ready to attract visitors and (hopefully) clients. Are you looking for clients regionally or nationally? This question needs to be answered before putting together a marketing plan for your site. Whichever you decide, use the following links to help get you started:
Best,

Yasmine

Hi, Just go to the forum category in which you want to make a post (web critique, marketing, etc) At the top of the list of posts there are two large buttons: "Post a new Topic" and "Create a Poll".  Just click "Start a new topic" and make your post and save.
