I took the advice of SUN and totally revised the site. Please review it and give your impression (as detailed as possible) and comments.

Is there something that you thought you should`ve seen but don`t? Do you still have questions after reviewing the site?

Thanks,

Hi,

The file size of the header (flash) banner is large - about 489kb. So, it will take a while to download for those with a slower internet connection. It seems to be a little jerky, that is, not  smooth transitions or movements.  Of course the other "problem" with having such a banner is it plays on every page over and over again.

The "bread crumbs" for each page starts with "veterans".

The images on the "seniors" page are way too large - the top one is over 1 Mb and the bottom one 108 kb.  The smaller file size the better... try to stay below 60kb.

Meta tags - your site right now shows Joomla for your description and keywords. Those should be changed to reflect the description and keywords for your  site. There is a Joomla plugin that does a good job with meta tags.

I would also suggest using a joomla plugin to change the page links from  ......shop.browse&category_id=7&option=...... to real words, so they are more search engine friendly.

On your repair service pages you say "Call now for prompt service" but you do not list a telephone #.  Even if you # is shown on another part of your site... you should put it on every page you say "call now".

The file size of the image on your FAQ page is too large - 3,237 kb = 3 mb!
Make sure you resize the image BEFORE you upload it to Joomla /images/stories folder.

This could be why your header  / flash file is soo large - you also should resize and compress images before you use them in a flash file.

I would concur with what Roland said, but would add that you should also consider a different favicon to match your site. In fact, you should consider some kind of rudimentary logo that will tie your site and your business stationary together.

I don`t remember this site, but there`s one huge problem! The entire content area isn`t displaying in Firefox (I`m using 1.5, so don`t know about the next iterations). The menu along the left is okay, but the whole section about what you do, your services, etc, is just blank. So I re-opened it in IE-6.x.

I too noticed the Flash! banner being "jerky." It would run, pause, run, pause, so that`s an issue.

There are minor improvements you could make. The font size is a bit small on my 19" panel, and could be a bit larger. You have on your washers page a "Call Now" for whatever. You could make that a link to your "Contact us" page, so the hone number would be readily available. Don`t make me click "Service Details" which don`t at all give me details...just a phone number.

I went to List of All Repair Services, and clicked Air-Conditioners. I didn`t see my brand name there, so I don`t know if you handle that. Couldn`t you have the company logos as graphics, so I`d see "GE" or whatever, and know that you can fix it?

Is there anything you have that indicates you have formal certification, or that you`re a "factory authorized" repair service? If so, that should be VERY prominent on the site. If not, then you should have a content page with a sales argument as to why I should trust my refrigerator to you.

The big thing is the FireFox problem, I think. But beyond that, it`s not a site problem so much as a content and sales issue. If you`re not a marketing or sales type, you might consider getting some professional (freelance, maybe) advice on how to strengthen your message. You also could use some improvement on the "customer journey" pathway.

I`m using Firefox 2.0 and it is displaying the content ok.

The flash banner is jerky as mentioned, and gets annoying after a minute.

I`m not sure what benefit the pdf file really has, since it isn`t filled with a  lot of information. Either get rid of it, or add enough content/pages to it to actually be more beneficial to a user.

Your url`s aren`t beneficial for SEO, so checking into url rewriting would be beneficial.

If you have a survey, maybe it`s something you should give a customer after doing service. Provide them with a printed copy and a stamped envelope to return it to you. Asking them to go back to your site and do it seems somewhat odd.

I appreciate all the feedback thus far. It seems that there are some consist concerns with the site. I hired a web designer to redo the site that I made originally and did not expect to have any issues with a professional site.

I realized the SEO was off when I saw the long url. Anyone interested in offering their services to improve this site? My contact number is on the site.

HELP!!

I know. My site is currently down because I accidently deleted the database. It is being repaired and as soon as that is done I will post again. I will call you to discuss your services. What time zone are you in?

Thanks.
