We all have "to-do" lists for our business ventures. But this one`s all about vacation.

Andy, my 11-year-old nephew, formed this "do-list" for his week-long summer holiday at the family lakehouse in Northern Michigan - and I thought you`d all appreciate it:

in Andy`s handwriting, all spelled perfectly:

dying to do    

    water park   

    Mackinaw Island

    kayaking

    play with Zev

want to do

    shop for boots

    jump off dock

    beach

    Yummies for ice cream

    Kilwins for ice cream

    Gurneys sandwich

doesn`t care about

    sit on porch

    be lazy

    sleep in

Now, I don`t know about you but I think this is a helluva great list. It`s organized by priority level. It clearly defines the scope of ("play"). And, frankly, it sounds like a lot of fun. Here`s to the vacation list of a 11-year-old!

Love your nephews list! Shopping for boots? Hey, I`m all about shoe
shopping! A kid after my own heart.

Here is mine, in no particular order:

Dying to do:
Mackinaw Island (never been, looks wonderful on the Travel Channel)
Add just "one more client" to the roster - the appreciative, pay on time
kind
Buy a new Mac (I sure wish Apple would hurry and release the Intel
desktops)
Spend another week at the coast with my family (October)
Replace the smooth top stove in the kitchen with a gas stove
Win the $178 million lottery (We belong to a lottery club - "Texas
Margarita Gang", maybe you`ve heard of us?)

Want to do:
Shop for shoes (I think strappy sandals are on sale now)
Network with like minded people
Lose 5 pounds
Finally figure out if my backup system is working
Upgrade to Adobe CS2 and Quark 7
Take my daughter ice skating while temps are 100°
Visit my Uncle in NC Mountains
Take a trip with my mom
Paint the living room

Don`t care about:
Sitting on the porch (too hot)
Quarterly Estimated Taxes
Accounting in general
Going to the gym
Cleaning out the closets
Daughter starting High School (of course I care, I`m just dreading it.)

uh-oh, my nephew just corrected me (sorry, couldn`t read it), that  this wasn`t about shopping for boots. it was supposed to be,

    shop for boats

sorry about that...

As you grow older, "sleep in," "be lazy," and "sit on porch" do tend to move higher up the priority list.

I`m not so much into sleeping late, but I like to be lazy and sit on the porch. My real dream would be, to be a monkey in the tree. Preferably at some American zoo... they eat well.

things I am dying to do:

skydiving, jet skiing, win the lotto and never show up at work (current job not my own business) again, take my son to see Phantom of the Opera in London (he`s dying to see it!); buy a piano so I can play again;  have a month off, paid.

things I want to do:

complete business plan; go to Elton John`s concert in San Jose HP Pav.; spend the weekend by the pool; have crabs for dinner this weekend; visit my best friend in Santa Monica, CA

things I don`t care about:

politics, my aunt`s spoiled kids
