Hello again everyone. wow this is my first night compleately off in a little while.
also 4th week smoke free. thant adds to the mix.
Anyway if happend to have  read my profile you know our store sells clothings and accessory for dance fitness and more so; i though i like to use music cd`s as promotional tool. maybe as  free gift for a purchase or just for visiting the store.
I am thinking of buy regular, real, honest cd`s and just give them out as gifts.
I could use different selections like some cd`s of ballroom music or jazz dance, maybe some classical. But i am not sure if i could be in copyright violation of some sort doing this and how to go about for doing it right.
I like to know first, what you all think of this idea. Any suggestion or elaboration is greately appreciate. Pitch in please.
One time my bank send me this cd of classical music in the mail as a cristmas gift. It looks like they had it made for that pourpose. It has the bank name on the cover with ribbons and bells, 3 songs only but the bank logo is embedded on the disc too, together with the name of the songs just like a regular cd.
I am wandering where do they go to have something like that done?
So what you think? And what you suggest?
Thank you all so much in advance for now. Ciao

Lucio

Music is a great gift as a thank you for shopping my store. You can buy CD`s with your name on it as a promotional item.

Let me know what genre of music and I can see what I can find for you. Please consider how many you would be purchasing, there are minimums, and how much you want to spend.

Thanks!

Jack

Thank you for the fast reply Jackede. Appreciate
I need to know a little more about the process and how it works, how is it legal.
If you do not mind. please
As far as the music i need some more reserch becouse our costumers age starts as low as 6 years old kids. Even if the parents are making the purchase i think will be nice to offer something that is suitable for all ages
I could cover the 4 mainstream genres like: classical, jazz, ballroom, dance and have the people pick what they like.
Or just offer 1 title, something  FAME for example. and everybody will get the same thing.
Either way considering Cristmas is coming up i may need  start to stock up on cd`s.
Please send me Email with your finding, some estimates maybe.
How much for how many kind of thing.
Well is time to sign off but i also like to renew the invite to everybody.
 Pitch in please.    Ciao

Hi all,

You can do "custom" CD`s with your company name, both on the front of the CD and on the CD itself. Genres can be anything you want, classical, jazz, country, rock n roll, etc. However these are sound alikes and not the actual artists. Classical music is less than say rock n` roll because royalties have to be paid to use the music.

Pricing on 1000 CD`s can be anywhere from $4.50 ea. to $6.00 each depending on the genre and royalties, etc. (By the way children`s music is available as well.) Your mainstream genres that you mentioned are royalty free and will be less expensive. I am sure you can mix and match as long as the quantity is over 1000 CD`s.

It is an interesting "giveaway" because the life of it can be quite long since very few people are going to throw away CD`s. Your name will be in front of them while they are enjoying the music.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jack

Sorry for delay, been at work.

I can see that the investiment can be quite substancial, although may not really need that many cd`s. I wish i had grown my business so big in just few months.

See we not really have a storefront were people can just walk in from strolling on the sidewalk. We on the first floor of a business building along the highway where we rised 2 big signs but still gonna thake sometimes untill we build a that kind of size costumer support.

Gonna have to get back to you in the nearest future hopefully but thanks for the great informations and the chanse to spread some knowledge.

Thanks you very much Jackede. Ciao

If you buy a CD from either a legitimate retail source or the artist themselves, you have no copyright issue. You`ve already paid the royalty, and you`re giving away that CD. It`s no different than if you buy a record, get tired of it, then give it to your friend. It`s only if you make a copy of it, then give those away that you`re illegal. "Buy 1, give 1 away" is the basic idea.

But here`s an interesting idea that might also get you some free advertising. Like the "Indies" (independent film industry), more and more musicians are opting out of the maws of international music conglomerates. They`re looking for independent distribution of their music.

Home studio CDs now rival commercial cuts, and are packaged, with full-color covers, liner-notes, and shrink wrap. The problem is distribution. Apple`s music store helps, as do sites like MP3.com, and other Internet distribution channels.

What if you were to offer as incentives, music CDs from new artists? You would be like an art gallery for music, where your own personal choices would determine what you "show." You could promote it not only as an incentive, but also as a "chance to own a CD from up and coming new artists."

You`d likely be able to easily get help from the artists themselves, as they usually have their own Web sites. There`d be some simple release form, where you`d work out a royalty percentage for each disk you gave away, but you`d also be getting that disk free, or for cost. The price of your merchandise would handle the royalty, which could end up being zero, as you`d also be marketing the artist through your site.

It would also make your own site more visually interesting, as you could put links to musician sites, scattered about on your site for aesthetic variation. Something like that?
