So I am curious...I personally prefer to have music in the background during the day...and it usually depends on my mood as to what I am listening to...but in general I prefer a good classic or alternative (not grunge) rock. Lately I have found myself totally in love with 2 particular songs, both are by a band (possibly just artist) named Gnarls Barkley...and they are Crazy and Gone Daddy Gone. Being that I tend to be a little younger than a lot of people on these types of forums...I am curious as to what kind of music inspires you to work hard...focus better...or relax into the routines of your day. OR...are you the type who just can`t stand to have all that noise in the background...you want your peace and quiet...the bliss of being able to hear nature outside your window...or the gentle hummmm of your CPU!?

When I am really in a crunch...I tend to stray towards classical (instrumental) or opera (the classics: Phantom being my favorite)....or my all time favorite band Dave Matthews...who could inspire me to do just about anything with his guitar and silk like essence as his voice glides through the songs!!!

So what are YOU listening to!?

Listening to music, in terms of profiting in business, is all about jumpstarting the imagination. Rejuvenation of one`s creativity is a must. One of the best ways to rejuvenate the creative spirit is to include music in your marketing approach. It serves to free your mind from irritating trivial matters and allows you to harness such emotion that will transform a good idea into the next marketing campaign for your company. My idea of using music to stimulate my creativity into concrete action is to play relevant tunes while imagining my customers using my products or services in their day to day lives. It serves to put anything I create into perspective from the consumer`s point of view, who "feels" connected by kindred spirit advertising and will buy brand x over brand z because their inner child has been tickled. I think it`s important to convince start ups to connect doing business with how music can play a part in being profitable, especially as it relates to productivity. And it is a fact that music influences the decisions of many forward thinking companies. Too, theme music helps set the stage for the emotional purchase. The person who can incorporate music into their sales has a marked advantage. Thank goodness for YouTube.com for the daily diversion of live concert videos.  Now how about the ink blot version of `"Crazy" ? DaveMatthews or DavidGray, how about both. Then there`s the folk rock genius of CatStevens. Whenever I need to reduce stress from a hectic day, or just unwind while I`m sorting research, it`s CatStevens, HarryChapin, NeilDiamond, GordonLightfoot, JamesTaylor, JimCroce. I know I should link them all. Maybe I`ll come back and edit. Great music works wonders.

We play Dave in here ALL the time. Eric is a huge fan and so is Darrell. I like Dave, but I`m not as big a fan as the aforementioned two. I`m definitely a Tom Petty girl!

Tom Petty is definitely a great way to free the mind...but I have to admit...I am a Dave girl through and through! As a matter of fact...todays bright ideas will be stimulated by Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds live at Luther College...disc one! There is nothing better for me. There are definitely times when my mind needs to be set to a different beat...but ahhh...the power of the tune!!!!

frndchps...CatStevens is an all time classic...truly a great!!! Thanks for the link...the one for DavidGray isn`t working for some reason though! My husband says that the Gnarls Barkley song is actually my theme song...I can`t possibly imagine what he means by that!

I listen to high-end music all day long, loud enough that it bothers a neighbor clerk!  Why? I design high-end classD amplifiers and I need to test them, besides my love for music - well recorded "classic" CDs.  So even when I`m not testing new amplifiers, I listen to Reference 9 amp that I designed a year ago that won serious industry awards.

I`m preparing to launch a new series of amps with virtually zero distortion and actually look for "golden ears" to audition it.  Golden ears can  actually become my partner in this fun business.
