Many people agree, we don`t like the music on websites. Why
is it still there? I have a theory. I think people find it entertaining
to themselves that they are able to add the function of music to
their website. It`s as if, having the bell and whistle of music
somehow makes your site more interactive. In reality, look at
the large, professional websites. Generally, no music. If so, you
can definitely turn it off.

Look at all the studies of how many people surf the net at work.
We all know, we`re not supposed to be looking around on the
net while at work. But we do it anyway. True designers know, if
you`re at work, music suddenly playing from your computer will
only focus attention on you… and your computer. I say, if you`re
going to put music on your website, let me turn it off. And like
someone already said, I would rather be able to turn in ON. Not
OFF. Of course that means I would never hear the music. I
would never turn it on. I have stopped reading web pages,
because the music was annoying or conflicted with my inner
thoughts as I tried reading the page. Too much distraction.

i dont think it`s a good idea to open the music automatically when the page is loaded, it can really make the visitors to go away.

beauty lies in simplicity

that said, some websites just call for it (i.e. celebrity websites, music band, etc)

I'm not a fan of websites with music as well. I think they are quite distracting the focus in some websites unless it's soothing :)

Before determining to add music on a web page one wants to think about some of the consequences that can happen. Including music is not always in the best attention of the company that is using it. Before posting any types music you should examine the copyright for the music.

Please lose the music. Unless your Pandora or Spotify, you shouldn't have music on your site.
