I have this awesome idea - a really, really great idea for a e-commerce site. Only - my thing is that I like to make them, not run them.
So I went looking for someone who would take this FREE opportunity. All I needed is someone who is interest in a home-based business and knows something about children`s clothes. (A stay at home mom is fine.) What they would get is a store, training, marketing, everything down to the business and marketing plan ... they just have to learn and run with it.
First person I approached is doing something a lot like this already, only she`s doing it on eBay and paying all those ever-increasing eBay fees. Did she take it? No. She likes her system, doesn`t want to do something else, and she `tried this before and it didn`t work`.
Second person I approached is a woman running a local brick and mortar store ... this would be an expansion to her already-thriving mom-and-pop joint. Did she take it? No. She`s too busy already and she `tried this before and it didn`t work`.
What I`m assuming from both of these experiences is that the people spent a few weeks tossing up a self-made Yahoo! store without any knowledge of internet marketing and, of course, the venture `failed` within a month or so.
I also think that I spend too much time being an entrepreneur and working with entrepreneurs that I have a hard time understanding this idea that people could walk away from a free gift worth thousands that could also produce them income for a long, long time ... not to mention that it would be a real business, not just some "I sell stuff on Craigslist to make money" type of deal. I also come from the mindset of "I`d rather cut off my leg than work for someone else ever again" but I know a lot of people (my husband included) like the security of a "regular job" with a "regular boss".
So help me out here ... what kind of person do I need to find to run this kind of thing?
And what is it that makes an entrepreneur ... an entrepreneur? (C`mon Craig, you know you`re just dying to make me a novel on this one! I`m eagerly waiting your well-thought-out response on it.)
