Marketing Ideas for Websites

Successful website marketing requires a mixture of online promotional activities, quality content and offline advertising. Whether you have a website for a non-profit organization, for selling goods online or for social interaction, a strong mixed-marketing strategy can increase page views, sales conversions and the overall visibility of your website. Keep in mind that you must make your website appealing and updated on a regular basis for any marketing campaign to keep visitors returning to your website.

Pay Per Click
Drive traffic to your website through pay-per-click advertising. Set a budget for your pay-per-click campaign and search for highly effective keywords as the basis of your campaign. If you have a limited budget, look for keywords that have a lower cost that are more specific to your website.

Social Websites
Add your website link to all your social website profiles like MySpace and Facebook. Routinely post updates or links to new information on your website. Also, participate in online forums and place your website link in your signature. You will increase your website's visibility. Other social marketing sites to consider are Digg and Stumbleupon. Do not spam these sites with useless information because it will decrease your credibility and could hurt your marketing efforts.

Communication Materials
Place your website's URL on all communication materials used by your company. Your URL should be on your company letterhead, business cards, print advertisements, invoices and register receipts. Think of your URL as routine contact information and place it on all your regular communications. Place your URL in the signature of all electronic communications from routine business e-mails to customer communications. If your company utilizes a customizable menu-based phone system, include your website URL as part of the messaging.

Contests
Sponsor contests on your website for prizes or services. Tie the contest to your website's purpose to increase the long-term impact of your website. For example, if you host a website on creativity theories, sponsor a contest for the most distinctive new idea for helping the environment. Not only will you generate activity from a "green" promotion, you will also tie the contest to your creativity information. Take your website advertising further by promoting your contest with other organizations such as environmental groups.

Articles
Post helpful articles on your website that will increase organic visits to your website from search engines. These articles should be informative, helpful and readily searchable. Write your articles with searchable keyword phrases in mind. Do not stuff your article and make it sound unprofessional, but place your keyword phrases in the beginning and end of your article and, whenever appropriate, in your article.

Video
Create a funny video or marketing piece that will grab attention and may turn into a viral marketing campaign, drawing visitors to your site. Place a link to the video in a promotional email that could be easily forwarded to encourage the distribution of your video link. If you tie your video closely to your website, you can also post a video on YouTube or other video site to increase your website's visibility.

I would like to expound on articles.

Articles are not posted on websites, content is. Articles are intelligent scripts that are posted to article directories. Some of the mot well-known of these article directories are ArticleBase and EzineArticles. There thousands others out there.

Ideally, an article should be original, informative and optimized with a signature for it to have any impact.

Original articles come straight off the line for the first time. They are not tweaked versions of already written articles and certainly not plagiarized.

Articles must be interesting yet conveying an exciting and appropriate message to keep the reader on it. They must also be written with choice keywords in mind for search engines to be able to index them.

Article marketing should also be done as regularly as possible to increase exposure. Many people make the mistake of writing one or two articles week. This cannot bring in traffic.

Finally articles must have a signature pointing to your website or affiliate page.

The best way to promote a webiste marketing is search engine optmization. The 90% of traffic of traffic comes from search engine. No one searches on article marketing websites for example on ezinearticle.com ar articlebase.com. All search on Google and find what they need.
