Hello Everyone,

I`m seeking to have my patented product manufactured. It is a
reusable plastic storage bag with an entirely novel closure system.

This bag not only opens and closes, it enables storage saving capabilities
due to its unique containment properties.

Presently, I have been making these bags on my own with a heat sealer,
and they are fully functional.

Since the product will be sold for a relatively low price, I cannot see
the feasibility of continuing to hand-make each one.

I have not been able to find a manufacturer willing to retool so as
implement the new closure.

If anyone has any ideas on how best to proceed at this point, I would
be grateful.

Thank you for your time.

Sounds interesting... My best advice- run to your local college/university. Find a professor in the engineering dept (GET EVERYONE TO SIGN NDAs). Get a CAD drawing and find a rapid prototyper (google rapid prototype)...

Let me know how it turns out. BTW, do you have a patent? If not, file a provisional ASAP!

Thank you for your advice, Chiclady.  I didn`t think to try a college; it is something I will look into.

And yes, I do have a patent.

Best of luck and success with your product.

Your local University / College is indeed one of the better places to source engineers, CAD modelers etc.  If you are short on funds, try to setup a meeting with the head of an applicable department and get your invention worked on as class curriculum. This can be helpful especially for complex projects which need, or have the potential for, numerous designs.

However, your inventions needs (your perception of those) can be superceded by the managing professor as they develop the class curiculum, and it can take long periods of time.

Attend all of the local Inventors Organizations, and source through their as well.

You can put ads up in the "regular" places, and sometimes, you can get tens of hits a week for CAD or engineers even just through Craigslist.

You need to make sure you CAD modeler / Engineers are experienced in your FIELD of invention however.  Their is a marked difference between engineers who work on Industrial or complex fields, and those who have experience in working with inventors.

Good luck!
